Douglas J. Minnich, MD

Douglas J. Minnich, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Thoracic Surgeon in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed Thoracic Surgery training at Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School in 2007. After 16 years of academic and private practice in Birmingham, Dr. Minnich founded Alabama Thoracic Surgery, LLC in 2023 to continue the mission of providing tertiary level thoracic surgical care in a comfortable and patient-centered environment. He has focused on the development of minimally invasive technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic disease. He performed the first electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy (ENB) and the first robotic bronchoscopy in the state of Alabama. He has since developed one of the largest surgeon experiences with these technologies in the world. He has also participated in clinical trials in the development of these and other modalities in the treatment of thoracic malignancies.
